Getting Started — How to Install and Set Up Canvas

Canvas is a high-performance live wallpaper engine designed natively for macOS. Setting it up takes less than a minute. Here is how to install the app and complete the welcome guide.

Step-by-Step Installation

1. Download the Package: Click the download link to download the official Canvas.dmg installer.
2. Mount the Installer: Double-click the downloaded Canvas.dmg file in your Downloads folder to mount the disk image.
3. Install the App: In the mounted window, drag the Canvas icon and drop it directly onto the Applications folder shortcut.
4. Launch Canvas: Open your Applications folder or use Spotlight (Cmd + Space), search for Canvas, and press Enter.
5. Acknowledge macOS Security: On first launch, macOS will ask if you are sure you want to open Canvas. Click Open to proceed securely.

Completing the Welcome Flow

Upon your very first launch, Canvas presents a gorgeous, interactive welcome wizard.

• Bookmark Authorization: Canvas will request permission to read local files in your customized workspace. This is fully sandboxed and kept 100% private to your Mac.
• Onboarding Size: The window will launch locked at a space-efficient 550x480 dimensions.
• Get Started: Click the Get Started button on the final slide. The window will smoothly animate, expand to its full 950x650 catalog grid size, and lock securely to the center of your screen!
