Display Management
Stretching Wallpapers Across Multiple Monitors
If you run multiple screens (such as a MacBook display alongside one or more external 4K monitors), Canvas gives you complete, professional control over how your dynamic backgrounds are displayed.
Display Arrangement Modes
Canvas offers two highly optimized multi-display modes:
- Independent (Individual Wallpapers): Each connected screen plays its own isolated loop. This is perfect if you want a subtle static photo on one monitor and a dynamic video loop on another.
- Stretched (Single Canvas Split): Canvas merges all your active displays into a unified coordinate workspace. It takes a single 4K video or photo, calculates the exact pixel union of all connected monitor frames (accounting for different resolutions and vertical offsets), and splits the rendering across them. This results in a single, stunning seamless wallpaper stretching across your entire desk setup!
Switching Layout Modes
- Click the Canvas gear icon in the menu bar to open Preferences (Cmd + ,).
- In the General tab, find the Monitor Arrangement section.
- Select Independent or Stretched.
- The wallpaper window controllers will smoothly rebuild and align your background instantly!
